Promoting family well-being
At St. Boniface Hospital, childbirth is a whole-family experience.
With comfortable sleeper chairs for the mother’s partner and special blankets that allow infants with jaundice to heal in their parents’ arms rather than under therapeutic lighting, the Woman and Child program encourages family bonding at this exciting time on a family’s journey.
The Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is equipped and staffed to help families through difficult experiences, such as premature births. With care, skill, and state-of-the-art equipment, the NICU treats about 600 ill or premature babies every year with remarkable results.
Donations designated to the program typically support the purchase of new equipment to ensure that Manitoba’s newborns receive optimal care in a loving, safe, and spotless environment.
