Bequests

A bequest is a gift of cash, property, or marketable securities made in your will. Many donors consider it one of the easiest ways to make a donation that will have a lasting impact on the health care of future generations.

There are two ways you can direct your bequest, which will determine how your gift is used:

UNRESTRICTED BEQUEST
An unrestricted bequest allows St. Boniface Hospital to use your gift where it is needed most.
Sample wording to use in your will for an unrestricted bequest:

My estate trustees shall pay the sum of $ _____ (or % of residue of my estate, or transfer assets with an equal value) to St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation, Inc., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, for the purpose of supporting the highest priority of needs at St-Boniface Hospital.

RESTRICTED BEQUEST
With a restricted bequest, you specify which program or area at St. Boniface Hospital will benefit from your gift. Sample wording to use in your will for a restricted bequest:

My estate trustees shall pay the sum of $ _____ (or % of residue of my estate, or transfer assets with an equal value) to St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation, Inc., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, for the purpose of supporting (program/area of St. Boniface Hospital)

To discuss how you can best direct your gift to the programs or areas at St. Boniface Hospital that are most important to you, please contact Kris Gutierrez, Vice-President, Development at 204-235-3696 or kgutierrez@stbhf.org

When wording your gift, please specify “St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation Inc.” as the beneficiary.

When leaving a bequest in your will, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation encourages you to discuss your intentions with your legal and/or financial advisors to help choose the best gift for you.
